Everton 1-1 Leeds: Barry strikes again to earn a point

The points are shared in a cracking Monday Night game

Everton’s in-form striker Thierno Barry came up with a goal again to earn David Moyes’ side a point in a classic game of two halves at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton were dreadful in the first 45 minutes and were thankful to only trail to James Justin’s first Premier League goal for Leeds at the break.

Moyes then tinkered with his side at the interval and saw them dominate the second half.

It was looking like a frustrating night though until Barry pounced for a fourth goal in his last five Premier League games, having scored just once in his first 18.

Indeed, since the start of December, only Ollie Watkins (7), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (7) and Erling Haaland (6) have scored more Premier League goals than Barry (5).

United have been much improved since Daniel Farke changed their shape and their wing-backs were key to the opener.

Jayden Bogle and Anton Stach linked on the right to fire in a low cross which was tcked in by Justin at the far post.

Former Everton man Calvert-Lewin then hit the post as Everton were in disarray, with home fans groaning at the break.

Moyes sent on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jarrad Branthwaite as they matched up with Leeds’ system.

The game opened up with the returning Iliman Ndiaye denied by a fine block from Sebastiaan Bornauw and Stach seeing a decent effort saved by Jordan Pickford.

Everton’s best move of the match then ended with Barry poking towards goal but Karl Darlow made a great save.

Barry did have his moment later on though, getting across his man to meet a low cross from Idrissa Gueye and flicking into the roof of the net.

Gueye then crashed a shot against the crossbar as Everton ended strongly but the points were shared.
